Learning through various readings and experiences about the decolonization of cultural heritage institutions has made me think about how designing for decolonization is a viewpoint that can be used for all types of projects, not only museums, libraries, and archives. 

In order to supplement the readings related to the decolonization of library spaces, which gave valuable insights on the ways in which programs and services are structured, I read more information related more specifically to decolonizing design generally, and I plan to continue to do so in the future.

Learning about decolonization practices has made me think about my positionality as a designer within my field and consider how I will aid in welcoming new perspectives and design thinking strategies. As a designer, I need to learn and be aware of how western and eurocentric perspectives and values have impacted what “good” design means. Furthermore, thinking about who is included and not included in a team of designers is important when trying to have representation of new voices.
