While in Amsterdam, I saw many design projects related to sustainable materials and the concept of upcycling, which involves repurposing materials to create something new. As I was going through different arts and culture museums, I thought about this history of the found object and found art movements and how these concepts are related. Whereas upcycling is often related to products intended to be functional, found art embraces turning objects that used to do something specific and turning them into something unrelated to that practical function. In my own way, I wanted to artistically explore this concept. To do so, I started taking images throughout my day and would create collages of these visual scraps. Through this practice I was able to make new visual connections between different moments of my day.
